Another month and more render removal and harling ahead of a final visit in September from the guys from Masonry & Lime on the externals. That will be render removed, walls pointed, flushed out and finished on a total areas of 950 sqm. What an undertaking…
We also were racing to get the structural works finished – installing the steel beam to support the floor in the magnificent bow fronted room, opening up the inglenook fireplace in the kitchen, creating the en suite doorway in the guest suite, finishing the pantry wall and installing the French door step.
The last of the leadwork was completed, including repairs to the main house ridges, refreshing the flashings above the pend and new lead caps on the porous stonework on the stables and main house gable.
And despite mum’s broken arm (and with a little help from Tony) the garden continues to do us all proud. Pictures below show the herbaceous border, the view to the glasshouse, the apples starting to ripen, the flower garden, the lavender walk and much more!
Finally, we took delivery of the refurbished radiators for the main house – thanks to Glasgow Architectural Salvage and Henderson’s Metal Cleaning in Edinburgh.
