Well, we’re glad to get to the end of this dark month!  With daylight down to realistically 7 hours (if that) lots of the work was behind the scenes, making preparations for the spring.

Tony has spent hours digging out the floors in the main house, getting them ready for laying the new limecrete slab along with the 8″ of insulating material:

With the new floor covering the whole of the kitchen, the existing wooden floor had to be carefully removed for use in the hallway upstairs at a later date.

Mike continued installing the new beams upstairs, which included more rot removal and treatment and yet more masonry work.

And we even had time to continue work in the garden (lots of digging from Tony!) and notice the first of the snowdrops only 4 days after the New Year!

And finally, the snow arrived:
